WhatsApp is an application for your iPhone. It is a replacement for sending SMS. With WhatsApp you can send free messages to everyone who has this application on their phone.
What is WhatsApp?
Whatsapp is an ideal program for people who send a lot of SMS messages. This application allows you to send messages on your phone via the Internet to someone who also uses WhatsApp. On an iPhone the messages look like SMS messages but it also works like an online chat because you can send longer messages and often send several messages.
WhatsApp can be used on various phones; the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia. I am describing the WhatsApp for the iPhone 3GS.
Which functions does WhatsApp have?
Favorites: this list will show everyone in your phonebook who also uses WhatsApp.
Status: here you choose a status like still at school, busy, not available, in a meeting, or you can write your own status. Plenty of options!
Contacts: this is your phone list with the contacts that you have stored on your phone. In this phone list you can select contacts and invite them to join WhatsApp. The invite will be sent by SMS message.
Chats: this shows all the chats that are currently open. Just like with a SMS messages on an iPhone appear in message balloons. Typing is the same as with an SMS. You can add or take pictures, send spoken messages, share contacts and send your location.
Settings: under settings you can change everything. You can set the sound you will hear when you receive a new message. There are only a few options you can choose from. When you receive a message your phone will vibrate. You can turn this on or off. Under settings you can review the network status. Under “Help” you can find information under FAQ in case you need it. You can also change or edit your name, background and a number of other things. WhatsApp also saves you call history so that you can read everything again.
