Angry Birds, the ultimate computer game

Angry Birds is a computer game that's extremely popular these days. You shoot the "angry birds" at green pigs with a catapult in order to destroy them.

Angry Birds is especially played a lot on the so-called smartphone (mobile phone with extended computer possibilities). The game is designed by the Finnish company Rovio Mobile. The game was released in 2009 for the Apple iOS platform. It's the fourth most downloaded application at the moment. That's why Rovio Mobile decided to design the game for other smartphone platforms as well, like Android and Symbian.

 Goal of the game

In the game there are green pigs in all kinds of constructions in the field. The pigs stole the eggs of the birds, and that's why they are very angry now. At the beginning of each level you get assigned birds. The target of the game is to shoot the birds at the pigs with a catapult and destroy as much as possible, both pigs and constructions. The green pigs are stationed in constructions consisting of different materials (stone, glass and wood). There are different kinds of birds with different functions. At the beginning of the game you only get the "basic birds".

The goal of the game is to destroy all pigs. In higher levels of the game you'll find explosive crates and rocks. These materials can be used by the birds to reach pigs that are hard to destroy.

When all pigs are destroyed, the level is completed. Thereafter, you can start the next level. When you complete a level you'll gain one, two or three stars. The amount of stars depends of the amount of points you've gained. The less birds you have to use, the higher your score and the more stars you gain. For every bird you don't use in a level, you gain 10,000 bonus points. You are always able to replay a level to achieve more stars.

Functions of the birds

As described earlier, the birds all have different functions. The red basic birds can't do anything extra. The blue birds mainly serve to destroy glass. You can activate these birds in the air so they explode into three smaller birds. You can do this by tapping the screen when the bird is floating through the air. The black birds are able to explode when you tap the screen. Hint: Do this as close to the construction as possible! That way you destroy the most. The white bird is able to drop an explosive egg. You can do this above the pigs or the construction.

The pigs

The pigs appear in different sizes. While small pigs are easy to destroy, bigger pigs can handle more damage. Some pigs were helmets, which makes it harder to destroy these pigs.

Golden eggs

In some levels you can search for the hidden golden eggs. When you have found a golden egg, you can go to the menu "Golden Eggs". If you tap your golden egg there, you are able to play an extra level. There are a total of 11 golden eggs hidden in the game.
