Tablets and their operating systems
This is not what I'm searching for.

Currently tablets with different operating systems are available. There are probably three operating systems that will actually compete with each other. These are iOS from Apple, Android from Google and Windows from Microsoft. The winner of the battle is probably determined by the supply in the appstores.
iOS
iOS is the operating system for Apple's iPad. The operating system of the iPad is a continuation of the iOS for Apple's iPhone. Apple has its own Apple Market, with a very wide range of apps. Apple has very strict control on supply of the apps. This will make the quality and performance guaranteed. There is also a limitation to this, because Apple sometimes refuses apps because they do not agree with the content.
Android
Android is an open source platform from Google, where everyone may develop on. This has advantages and disadvantages. The big advantage is that new apps are added constantly. The disadvantage is that there is no good screening of the quality of the apps. This makes it difficult to find good apps from the huge supply. Android 2.1 and 2.2 are designed for smartphones. The new Android 3.0 is the first Android operating system specially developed for tablets.
Windows
Microsoft has Windows 7, which works on both PC and tablet. Because Windows 7 is not specifically made for a tablet, it is sometimes inconvenient to work with on a tablet. Software for a tablet assumes that the control takes place via a touch screen, while software for a PC is made for control with a keyboard and a mouse. Whether Windows 8 will be different in this, is yet to be seen. The advantage is that Microsoft now has an appstore. Because this will work on both PC and tablet, this appstore can increase rapidly.
Conclusion
An operating system for tablets stands or falls with the range of apps. Apple is known for its outright quality. This is also reflected in the apps on iOS. The operation of the apps is guaranteed on the iPad. Because Android has multiple users, they will likely gain a greater market share and a wider range of apps than Apple. Operation is less guaranteed because the operation of the apps is not controlled properly and they should work with many different brands. Whether Windows will survive as a tablet operating system is still unclear. There are not many tablets with Windows, but supply is growing. Again, the success stands or falls with the range of apps.
As it looks now, Apple and Google will likely fight the battle. Most likely they will co-exist, which is also the case at the home computer between Apple and Microsoft. The choice between these two giants is personal. Will you choose the quality of Apple or the offer and freedom of Android?
