Your own digital pictures can be displayed on television in several ways. Which way is appropriate for you depends on your equipment.
You may recognise this: you have taken pictures with your digital camera and want to show them to family and friends. To show pictures on a laptop or PC to several people is very inconvenient. The best way is to show the pictures on television. People often do this in a very roundabout way.
Depending on your equipment, there are several ways to display photos on a television:
- Through a Video CD or DVD into a DVD player
- Through a USB stick, external hard disk or media player
- Through a home network
Show pictures on television via a Video CD or DVD in a DVD player
For a long time you had a hard time to first convert your pictures into a slideshow via an editor. This slideshow was then burned onto a CD or DVD before you could play it in a DVD player. This is very cumbersome, but there are still people who show their pictures in this way.
Show pictures on television via a USB stick, external hard disk or media player
Today, many people have a television with a USB port. This can already save a lot of work because there is no need anymore to create a slideshow and burn it on CD or DVD. This because the pictures can be put on a USB stick or external hard drive. When it is connected to the TV, the built-in software of the TV will show the pictures. Do not worry if the TV does not yet have a USB connection. You can connect a special media player via SCART or HDMI. The USB stick or external hard disk can then be connected to this media player. The pictures are now shown using the software in the media player. There are also media players which have a hard disk.
Show pictures on television via a home network
But there is still an easier way to do this. If your TV has WiFi and DLNA features, you can show the pictures on your television using your home network directly from the PC. To do so, you need to configure your media player on your PC once, so that all the equipment in your home network may stream your pictures or videos. Please note that if you do not know if your home network is secure, you should ask family or friends to help configure this properly. You do not want the whole neighborhood to see your pictures or documents. Through the software in your TV you can now access and show pictures directly from your PC.
